MITC Announces 2005 International Trade Award Winners
The Maine International Trade Center in Portland has announced the winners of the 2005 International Trade & Investment Awards. IDEXX Laboratories of Westbrook was named Exporter of the Year; Pierce Atwood of Portland, International Service Provider of the Year; Eastman Industries also of Portland, International Innovator of the Year Award; and TMobile/Deutsche Telekom of Oakland; Foreign Direct Investor of the Year Award. The President's Award, given annually to a person or organization for outstanding service to the Maine International Trade Center, was given to Laurenz Schmidt of Fairchild Semiconductor, South Portland. The John W. Bernotavicz Award for Lifelong Achievement was presented to former Maine Gov. Angus S. King.

Sonnax Industries Earns Exporter of the Year Award
The Vermont International Business Council has given Sonnax Industries its 2005 Exporter of the Year award. Sonnax, of Bellows Falls, designs, produces, and supplies components to the automatic transmission aftermarket.

Goodrich Completes Two Deals
Goodrich Corp. has announced a pair of transactions with two international aviation firms. French aircraft manufacturer Dassault will utilize a broad range of Goodrich technology for its Falcon 7X long range business jet including flap and airbrake systems as well as fuel components, electrical power generation and distribution systems, air data systems, and primary ice detection systems. Brazilian manufacturer Embraer will use the Goodrich CF34-10 nacelle system for the EMBRAER 190 commercial jet. Goodrich of Vergennes, Vt., is a supplier of systems and services to the aerospace and defense industries.

Fairchild Semiconductor Honored by South Korea
Fairchild Semiconductor of South Portland Me., supplier of high performance products that optimize system power, announced the company has received an award for environmental preservation and water protection in South Korea. The award was provided in conjunction with the annual World Water Day festivities and presented to Fairchild by South Korea's minister of the environment. The company was also honored for excellence in occupational health and safety. Fairchild has established an accident free record exceeding six years. The Prime Minister's Award was presented in Seoul by the minister of labor of South Korea.

BioAnalyte Expands Licensing Agreement with UK Firm
BioAnalyte Inc. of Portland, Me., has announced that it has broadened its license agreement with Positive Probability Ltd. of East Anglia, England, a firm that already produces core components in BioAnalyte's Trawler product. The license expansion creates a new product, "Enterprise Trawler," aimed at pharmaceutical, industrial and other high throughput applications. BioAnalyte develops software for data analysis and manipulation.

IDEXX Receives European Approval for Mad Cow Test Kit
IDEXX Laboratories Inc. of Westbrook, Me., announced that the European Commission has formally approved the use of their HerdChek BSE Antigen EIA Test Kit. HerdChek, a rapid test for accurate postmortem detection of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), detects the presence of the abnormal proteins believed to cause BSE, often referred to as mad cow disease.

Hussey Seating Completes Prague's Sazka Arena
Hussey Seating Company of North Berwick, Me., has completed work on the Sazka Arena in Prague. The 18,000 seat arena allows for more than forty functional variations in layout that can accommodate hockey one night and a classical concert the next. The arena is one of a series of recent international contracts by Hussey including Vilnius Arena in Vilnius, Lithuania; Belgrade Arena; the recently completed Hong Kong Convention Centre; the Dubai Convention Centre; as well as contracts in Macao and Australia.

ThinkGlobal Inc. has received an APEX 2005 publication excellence award for its quarterly ThinkGlobal international trade newsletters. The ThinkGlobal international trade publications are available online and are distributed at no charge to manufacturers and service providers involved in international trade.
